This new 4600 square foot private residence along with detached garage and outdoor shower building will initially be used as a summer residence for a family that currently resides full time in the Chicago area.  At some point in the future, this may however be used as a primary residence.  The property is a relatively flat 75' x 150' site located within walking distance to the ocean, nearby lake, and the quaint downtown shopping and business district of the seaside community of Spring Lake.  The design draws inspiration from classic turn of the century beach houses of the Northeast, but has been reinterpreted for contemporary living.  Upper level porches take full advantage of natural breezes and ocean views, while a curved front porch with a copper roof defines the main entrance as one approaches the property.  State of the art heating and cooling systems along with the latest insulation technology was used for maximum energy efficiency and sustainability.
