Surf City House

Surf City, Long Beach Island, 2023

Designed for a couple that split their time between New Jersey and San Francisco, the Surf City House is a new 2500 square-foot elevated beach house located on a 50’ x 100’ flat sandy site in the barrier island town of Surf City, New Jersey. The property, which has been in the owner’s family for two generations, sits midway between the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Barnegat Bay to the west. The elevated house was designed to meet current FEMA and township flood regulations with a ground level to be used as a garage and storage, and the upper two levels of habitable living space. The house was designed with a modern coastal aesthetic, while still being contextually responsible.
