McPherson-Fuellemann Residence
Toms River, New Jersey, 2024
The McPherson-Fuellemann Residence is a new waterfront home located along the Toms River in Ocean County, New Jersey. The home is three levels with a ground level of garage and storage space (non-habitable) and two upper levels of habitable living space. The home is designed as a “reverse living” configuration with the three bedrooms located on the mid-level and the kitchen, living, and dining spaces on the upper level to maximize the unobstructed river views to the south. The home’s exterior design takes its cues from Scandinavian and mid-century modern architecture, but with a coastal flair. The exterior materials consist of natural eastern white cedar shingles together with thermally treated vertical ash siding with a silvery-white stain finish. The overall building area of the three level home is 4930 square feet, plus a one story accessory structure of 360 square feet. This house is located in a FEMA Coastal A flood zone requiring all habitable living space to be elevated to the required design flood elevation and the ground level to be designed with break-away walls.
