Conlin Bath Renovation
Bay Head, New Jersey, 2008
This project consisted of the complete renovation of the only full bathroom in an existing 90 year old classic Shingle Style beach house. The owners, who use this house as a summer residence, desired to add an element of modernism, while still maintaining compatibility with the architecture of their traditional seaside home. Because there was no option to expand outward or into the adjacent bedrooms, the decision was made to absorb attic space to create a new elevated ceiling. Clerestory height windows were introduced for natural daylight and ventilation. Glass tiles in both polished and matte finish to simulate sea glass were used on the walls, while natural slate was selected for the floor. The new cherry vanity complements the woodwork of the existing home.
